Watershed Tours for Educators ~ Montana
June 9-10 & 13-15: Sun River Watershed Tour June 23-24 & 27-28: Headwaters to a Continent Tour July 20-22: Milk Watershed Tour- Part II (Builds on Part I, 2004) Montana Watercourse is offering three watershed tours designed to give educators a comprehensive view of the watershed in which they live, and provide the tools and activities to make that knowledge applicable. Each tour includes professional speakers, site tours and classroom activity suggestions. Presentations are correlated to activities that meet social studies and science standards. Resource Materials fo Field Studies
The set of 4 compact disks contains 40 seasonal ecological field study lessons. Each lesson contains and instructional video, teachers' manual and student worksheets. The field studies are specifically designed for teaching about nature in middle school and high school (grades 6-12).

ARISE Life Skills
ARISE is a not for profit agency that provides curriculum for a variety of education topics, some of which include enviromental awareness and safety. The founder of ARISE, Edmund Benson, ran a campaign which forced Miami-Dade County to clean up a cotaminating incinerator. Later, ARISE lead an ENVIRO-COPS program that offered elementary schools enviromental awareness programming.

International Professors Project (IPP)
IPP seeks environmental scientists and environmental social scientists for university teaching, mentoring, curriculum development and research. Three objectives of the IPP are environment, population, and security. ITEST Program
ITEST - "Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers" to work with scientists and engineers in project-based, experiential learning ranging from biotechnology to environmental resource management. ITEST is a program of the National Science Foundation's Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Informal Education (ESIE). This publication describes the program, projects and locations, and sponsors. Types of projects are 1) career and educational enrichment for students in middle and high school, 2) Teacher information technology professional development and 3) a resource center for research on funded projects.

Mesa Refuge Writers Retreat ~ California

Wolf Workshop for Educators ~ Minnesota
July 28-31, 2005 ~ Ely, Minnesota Immerse yourself in the wolf’s world at the International Wolf Center. Spend a weekend in the beautiful Superior National Forest gaining familiarity with wolves, wolf issues, and the natural surroundings of the area. You can try your hand tracking wolves like the researchers do, howl to wolves in the wild (and hope for a response!) and hike in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. This workshop will introduce educators to new on-line resources and other multi-disciplinary wolf curricula that can be implemented into a classroom or nonformal teaching environment. $250 fee includes lunches each day, 3 nights of lodging, instruction, and lots of great take-home teacher resource materials. EE Certification Program Survey
The Center for Science Teaching and Learning at Northern Arizona University has been considering offering a certificate program for informal / environmental educators for several years. This on-line survey is designed to find out what the needs and desires of informal educators are before creating a program. It should only take about 5 minutes (or less) to complete and would be extremely useful in developing a program that makes sense. NAAEE is exploring the development of a national certification program (http://naaee.org/projects/certification.pdf) Many other states in the country are developing or have already developed environmental education certificate programs as well (see NAAEE Communicator Autumn 2004, Vol.34/No.3http://naaee.org/news/communicator_summer04.pdf.) Journey Home
Journey Home has a strong environmental message, and even a short digression on an alternative approach for the forest service. Journey Home deals with a variety of social issues including spousal abuse, homelessness, rape, suicide, the abuse of power, and nature as an element to respect and revere. Cartoonist helps Grassroots efforts in saving Salmon Campaign
Cartoonist Denis Thomopoulos (hippoworks.com) created this cartoon from the perspective of several talking salmon to help with the efforts in saving the imperiled Northwest Salmon. Thomopoulos teamed up with Wildlife Works and Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition to create an online petition addressed to Congress and to sell t-shirts to raise money for wild salmon recovery efforts.
