Teacher training programs are of central importance to the goal of developing an environmentally literate public. The incorporation of environmental education into K-12 classrooms largely depends on the training of the people responsible for developing and delivering EE, mainly teachers. Although few states require pre-service teachers to receive EE training, there are many training opportunities available.
