Urban Ecology Institute    
UEI uses urban ecology studies to help urban residents understand the natural resources in their communities and take action to protect them. Our mission is to promote the stewardship of healthy urban ecosystems by improving science and civic education for middle and high school youth and by working with urban communities to protect and restore natural resources.

Inner City Outings    
A volunteer community outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides outdoor experiences for groups of individuals who might not otherwise have them. Such groups include: inner city youth of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, disabled persons, and children with HIV.

Brownfields National Project    
"Brownfields: Abandoned, idled or under-used real property where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived contamination." HUD is working with community, private, and government organizations to stimulate reinvestment in communities by restoring brownfields to productive use.

Center for Understanding the Built Environment (CUBE)    
Based in Kansas, CUBE provides workshops, teaching materials, curricula, a resource catalog and a newsletter about urban planning and development.

Community-Based Prevention/Intervention Research (CBPIR) Project    
A project of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences NIEHS), "initiative aims to implement culturally relevant prevention and intervention activities in economically disadvantaged and underserved populations adversely affected by environmental contaminants.

Wet in the City    
"WET in the City is an urban environmental education program of the Council for Environmental Education (CEE) that focuses on water resources." The Curriculum and Activity Guide includes K-12 activities selected from the popular Project WET to specifically address the water education needs of urban educators.
