EETAP States Program

Adobe Community Action Grants    
Quarterly Application Deadlines: December 31; March 31; June 30; September 30

Adobe Systems awards one-time grants for one year general operating and program support ranging from $5,000-$20,000. Focus areas include Creativity in Education and Commitment to Community. Eligible nonprofit organizations and schools must be located in one of the following areas: San Jose/Silicon Valley and San Francisco, California; Seattle/King County, Washington; and Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Earthwalk Northwest

Live, Learn, & Teach in the Pacific Northwest    
The IslandWood Graduate Residency in Education, Environment and Community, in partnership with the University of Washington, is a unique immersion experience in learning and teaching at one of the nation’s most innovative and sustainable campuses. Graduate studies include experientially based courses in education and professionally mentored teaching of children from urban Seattle and surrounding counties in our four-day residential program. Using cultural and natural communities as a context for learning, graduate students teach children the importance of environmental and community stewardship.

EE Report Card Show Positive Results on Standardized Tests    
Results of the Report Card on Environmental Education in Washington State show students involved in environmental education score higher on standardized tests, than do students with more conventional schooling.

Seattle Aquarium Educators Summer Workshop    
July 24 through 28, 2006 ~ Seattle, Washington

This course "Marine Birds and Mammals of Washington, Auklets to Orcas" will interpret the connection between Washington marine birds and marine mammals with human actions through hands-on inquiry based teaching. Report Card on EE in Washington State      
This report card, prepared at the request of the Washington State Legislature, summarizes the status of environmental education (EE) in Washington. Two years of statewide

surveys, community meetings, and one-on-one interviews yielded useful information as well as gaps in the available data. Some aspects of EE rated outstanding grades while

others clearly need improvement.
