EstuaryLive 2005 Virtual Tour
September 22-23, 2005 EstuaryLive, 2005 interactive field trip exploration of eight estuaries. Students can ask questions during the program that will be answered live. Siemens Westinghouse Competition
Application Deadline: October 3, 2005 2005-06 Siemens Westinghouse Competition, the nation's premier research-based math and science competition for individual high school students or as part of a team. The Siemens competition awards college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000. Online registration and instructions for entering the competition are now available.

Sustainable Sweden Study Tour 2005
Deadline: June 30, 2005 The Sustainable Sweden Tour, August 13-26, 2005 will include study visits with a variety of eco-municipalities across Sweden -- everything from rural areas to large cities. Participants will visit with good examples of comprehensive sustainable ("green") development, meet with officials and representatives behind the projects and attend interactive workshops. Cultural celebrations and delicious meals are also featured. Tour facilitators include Sweden's leading sustainability pioneers who will explore Sweden's 20-year eco-municipality movement and discuss ways the model can be replicated in other parts of the world. Deadline: June 30, 2005 Grant program is a collaboration of the Northern Forest Center, the North East State Foresters Association (NEFA) and the USDA Forest Service. Bobbie Bigfoot Sustainability Lessons
More than twenty lessons focused on sustainability are currently available free of charge to members of Earth Day Network’s Educators Network. The lessons are designed to compliment the newly created Ecological Footprint Kids Quiz – an online lesson helping students understand how their daily life uses natural resources. With the quiz, the lessons help primary and secondary students understand the concept of sustainability and its importance to our future. Environmental Jeopardy
Earth Day Network (EDN) has created the first two in a series of three interactive games on environmental issues. Designed like the game show, each edition of Environmental Jeopardy focuses on a specific environmental theme with in-depth answers and suggestions for how to conduct further research. Both available editions can be downloaded for free by registering on the Teachers Corner of the EDN website, www.earthday.net. All new members get a hard copy of the original edition along with the official game board.

NASA's Earth Explorers Series
Monthly National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) series introduces a variety of learning adventures and lesson plans designed for K-12 educators and students. Current issue has students investigating the migration of land and marine animals such as eagles, turtles, dolphins, swans, and harp seals.

New EE Classroom Lessons from Earth Day Network
Environmental Jeopardy and Bobbie Bigfoot Sustainability Lessons Now Available! Earth Day Network has just developed two new environmental education resources for classroom use: Environmental Jeopardy and the Bobbie Bigfoot Sustainability Lessons. Designed like the game show, Environmental Jeopardy allows students to learn interactively about issues in depth, with further opportunities to do research on the topics covered. The Bobbie Bigfoot Sustainability Lessons are a collection of over twenty lesson plans that accompany the Ecological Footprint Kid’s Quiz website and are designed to inform students about the importance of sustainability. August 28-30, 2005 ~ Ann Arbor, Michigan The Minority Environmental Leadership Development Initiative (MELDI) is hosting "Summit on Diversity in the Environmental Field" at the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment. Conference for students, leaders, and faculty of environmental nonprofits, programs, government agencies, and other environmental institutions to discuss the state of diversity in the environmental field, how to enhance it, and focus on examining techniques of introducing and implementing diversity practices. Watershed Tours for Educators ~ Montana
June 9-10 & 13-15: Sun River Watershed Tour June 23-24 & 27-28: Headwaters to a Continent Tour July 20-22: Milk Watershed Tour- Part II (Builds on Part I, 2004) Montana Watercourse is offering three watershed tours designed to give educators a comprehensive view of the watershed in which they live, and provide the tools and activities to make that knowledge applicable. Each tour includes professional speakers, site tours and classroom activity suggestions. Presentations are correlated to activities that meet social studies and science standards. All offer OPI renewal credits or MSU-Bozeman (Sun & Headwaters) and MSU-Northern (Milk) graduate credits. Reference materials, curriculum guides, maps, watershed info and more will be provided.
